I was unable to get through on the phone fro 4 hours, I was feeling very unwell. when I eventually got through I was told by someone called Bev that there were no appts that day. no emergencies either. I told her my symptoms that I had debilitating pains in my head and my age. still the answer was no. I phone 111 and they said that I needed to see my GP within 2 hours. I phoned back to surgery spoke to another receptionist and got an appt straight away!!! Next day I had to go to surgery to have bloods taken, my Husband was with me. he had a letter for to make an appt. to see a Dr, for results, the receptionist told him he needed to go home and phone up. he said but I want make the appt. now while he was there with me, he was told no. I approached another receptionist for him . there was not a problem, he was given an appt. WHAT is going on there it is not good and unprofessional. I can't fault the doctors or nurses they are excellent.

I have no problem with the Medical staff or nursing staff, I do have major problems with certain receptionists., today the 22nd March, needing to see a doctor about the effect a certain medication is having on me and giving me bad headaches and a feeling of extreme tiredness combined with nausea and giddiness,which is getting worse, I am 82 years old, The receptionist questioned me as if she were a doctor and she decided I was not an emergency and could wait until Monday, almost 3 days.!! I was asked questions which were in my mind confidential, I used to be a Clinical specialist and told her this so as she would know that I knew what I was talking about... I did not like being given a third degree! especially when feeling so unwell. she should be taught some inter personal skills and learn the meaning of tact. I feel like naming her, but decided not to on ethical grounds.

I am totally happy with my doctor here--when I can get an appointment. I had a letter asking me to ring for an appointment to discuss my X ray results.I began phoning at 7am ,the phone barely left my hand all day ,as it was constantly engaged and I had to keep redialling.Finally got through at 3.40pm to be told no appointments left and try the next day, Again ,began dialling at 7am and finally through at 2.30, same again no appointments left. I was virtually in tears and the receptionist was very understanding but said nothing she can suggest except to keep trying every day ! I am desperate to get the results of my X rays and see what can be done for me, but am losing hope of ever getting an appointment.So on that basis there is no point in recommending the practise, even thought the doctors, nurses and staff are all lovely.

Probably best to sign on to a different surgery if you want a non urgent appointment. Impossible to get through if you phone at 7am. If you are lucky enough to get through any time after 8.30 it is more than likely all the evening appointments will have gone. I was told that most of the long list of doctors displayed, work during the day. Perhaps then given the enormous salaries that GPs earn, they ought to co-ordinate their times so that more work in the evening so that people who work can get to see them. I was a patient with the Rochford Practice before it was closed by the CQC. At least with them you could see someone and they were open 7 days a week.
